Author Leslie Jamison and the release of THE EMPATHY EXAMS

Bookbug is honored to welcome Leslie Jamison on the release of her essay collection, THE EMPATHY EXAMS. Jamison is the author of a novel, THE GIN CLOSET, as well as numerous works in The Believer, Harper's, Oxford American, and Tin House. She serves as a Bookends columnist for the New York Times Book Review. Above all, she is a captivating writer and human being.

Jamison’s essays strike with a journalist’s keen eye, a poet’s silken tongue, and—what else—an empath’s enormous, fierce, and benevolent heart. I’m not ordinarily a margin-scribbler, but this book had me scrambling for a pencil time and time again. Jamison has so much to tell us.

THE EMPATHY EXAMS is the winner of the Graywolf Press Nonfiction Prize, has been named a Publishers Weekly Top Ten Essay Collection for Spring 2014, and is garnering enormous praise among writers and readers of all stripes. Read a recent interview in flavorwire, and check out this glowing review from the NY Times.

Don't miss this opportunity to meet an incredible writer and connect with your fellow humans.
